Hadronic interaction models
- Various hadronic interaction models for protons and neutrons In the plot below, the following are shown:
- DEFAULT -- Geant4 default model (GHEISHA)
- BERTINI -- Geant4 implementation of the Bertini cascade model
- BINARY -- Geant4 implementation of the Binary cascade model
- skdetsim -- Geant3 default model (GCALOR) plus proprietary code (details as yet uninvestigated)
Momentum of pi0s that were created as a result of inelastic scattering of protons and neutrons
This comparison should accurately portray differences in only the hadronic interaction models. The event sample used in each of the four cases is identical. No reconstruction is performed on these events, i.e., these are the true momenta of the neutral pions produced during proton and neutron inelastic scatters.
- Neutral pions from proton interactions (left) and neutron interactions (right) In the plot below, the following are shown
- Geant 4 GHEISHA model
- Geant 4 BERTINI model
- Geant 4 BINARY model
- Geant 3 skdetsim default model (GCALOR plus proprietary code)
Momentum of pi0s that were created as a result of inelastic proton scatters (left) and inelastic neutron scatters (right)
Notice that none of the three Geant 4 models are similar to the skdetsim model...
