New jnubeam flux vectors
Now I am trying to generate flux vectors with jnubeam. I have two reasons to do this:
- Short Term: Make beam vectors with a wide enough beam to study the entering background.
- Longer Term: Learn how to do this ourselves if we need to make more vectors than we currently have.
Note: On a 2.8 Ghz Xeon Linux system we can generate approximately 10,000 vectors per 10 min. per CPU
As a start, here are some interesting pictures of the beam profile over different size scales. The following pictures are the beam profiles for short runs over different sizes. The center of the WC is always at 0 in these pictures. If we are 2.5 degrees off the beam center then at our distance we expect to be approximately 82m from the beam center.
For all of the following pictures Click on image for the full size picture. First I show the distributions in X and Y for +- 4m which is the default size we have with our flux vectors now.
One interesting note is that although I generated 50000 neutrinos we only got about 11K events.
Now here is the same thing for +- 16m. This should cover the region we need to do the entering BG studies.
Over this size we see 43K of the 50K neutrinos. On this scale we are starting to see the shape of the beam spot better.
Finally we are interested in seeing where we fall on the full profile so I have plotted the beam +- 150m.
On the previous plots I have drawn lines showing the +-4 meter boundaries we normally consider. Note: it looks like the distribution in y may have some non-statistical fluctuations.
Currently, I am waiting to hear from ichikawa to make sure I am using the correct hadronic models etc.
